Garden gyms / BUILT AROUND YOU

Your own space.
Your own pace.

Room for a daily routine, without the journey. Design the space around how you train and the equipment you actually use.

START WITH THE EVERYDAY DETAILS

What matters
in your room?

  1. Allow for equipment height and movement above your head.
  2. Discuss floor loads, impact and the space needed around equipment.
  3. Consider ventilation, privacy and where the doors will open.
Can I plan the room around my equipment?

Yes. Share the dimensions and weight of your equipment early so the layout and construction requirements can be discussed.

Build around the way you train.

A gym asks more of a floor than most rooms. Racks, plates and a treadmill put a lot of weight on small areas, and dropped weights need something underneath that can take the impact. Tell Ian what you own now and what you plan to add, so the floor build-up and the room height are settled before the drawings are done.

Training rooms get warm and damp quickly. Plan opening windows or mechanical ventilation, and enough sockets for a screen, a fan and chargers. If you train early or late, think about lighting that works after dark and where the noise will travel.
